In a thrilling second round cup game, Real Milan produced another great second half performance against a quality Burghfield XI. As they were down to just Twelve available players, Real had no choice but to gamble and played Renaldo at centre half.
The game burst into life after just 5 minutes. Real, still adjusting to a new back four, were caught cold when a Burghfield forward ran through unmarked to plant a fine finish past the advancing Anthony MacCarroll. Within 4 minutes Real were level. Following fine midfield work the awesome Josh Lake sent a screamer into the roof of the net fromwell outside the area. Real were on top for a while after that, with their slick one touch passing proving difficult for the blues to cope with. But Real failed to capitalise on there chances, and Burghfield slowly took control, exposing Reals back four with chilling efficiency. By half time the game looked over as Burghfield cruised to a 1-5 lead.
During the interval, Real's Management stressed the need to concentrate on passing and moving, chasing back, and working hard. and to above all enjoy yourselves!
Real came out for the second half revitalised.Some of Milans football was a joy to watch as they took the game to their division 1 opponents. Josh Lake grabbed his second, and Jordan Pritchard scored a goal of Zidane -like quality.A comeback at 3-5 looked likely with The Blues looking decidedly second best, but 2 soft goals late on,won the tie for Burghfield.
There were some fantastic performances for the the Whites by Karim Usmani, Josh Lake, Jordan Pritchard and Man Of The Match Anthony MacCarroll. Karim ran the midfield with his thunderous tackles and pinpoint passing. Josh Lake gets better every week. His work rate, effort, and superb hold-up play, had the Burghfield defenders chasing shadows. Jordan was on a different level. He scored one of the goals of the season and oozed class whenever he was in possession. Anthony MacCarroll made some great saves, was extremley brave and his catching was faultless. Tom Emery, Lewis Martin, Ronaldo and Jack Evans got stronger as the game went on and never gave up grafting. Danny O'Sullivan continues to impress with another all-action display. Kevin Long got 'stuck-in' and passed really well. Anthony Gardner had a great second half, making the opposition defence work hard. Harley McAuley proved again what a class act he is, with another impressive contribution.
Another really enjoyable game played in a competitive but sporting atmosphere, was topped off when both sides gave each other a rousing three cheers at the end. Real entered this cup competition to test themselves against strong quality teams.
